The site is called ForPatricia as homage to Founder and CEO Barkhurst’s mother, Patricia Ann Barnes, who, at age 46, was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer. Patricia battled the disease for almost nine years, from October 1995 to July 2004, during which she developed “awe-inspiring” coping skills and, by her example, taught those around her to live each day to the fullest. Joy Journey entries selected from Patricia’s first and last journal, begun in September 1997 ending in 2003, are on the site and viewable by all members.
